Pictures will be up eventually.
Basic Skateboard Composition
A good skateboarding composition is like a good story there is a beginning middle and end. For example if your shooting a stair set you want to be able to see where the skater is coming from, what hes going to hit and where he is going to land. If you fail to do this it will appear the skater is just "there" and no movement is taking place. In other words a good composition bring movement to a picture.
Here is some other composition rules for ya http://www.photographymad.com/pages/view/10-top-photography-composi...
(good and bad example of skateboard composition will go here.)
The Rule of Thirds
Something every photographer should and needs to know. Its very hard to explain this so i'll link you to a page that has examples. Just pay attention to how thing lay along the lines and what gets put in the intersections. http://www.digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds
Wait but skate doesn't have those lines! Its really not that big of a deal as long as its close. Also don't live by the rule of thirds even though the majority of the time it'll look very good.
some good examples

Noisy Backgrounds
This applies more in real life than in skate. It's where the background is so crowded where the attention is drawn away from the skater and just kinda blends in. The main focus of taking photos is making your subject stand out.
Some examples
This will probably be where you learn the most.
Bad composition with rule of thirds(looks good for ads but not for serious photos)
Good composition poor rule of thirds
As you can probably tell its not the worst looking picture and this proves that the rule of thirds isn't the most important but it still shouldn't be overlooked.
Good all around
not too much to say for this
Another good one except i have the rule of thirds focusing on the house which kinda makes the skater blend into the back ground a bit

Now on how to shoot advertisements. In a lot of ads you will notice the rule of thirds will draw your attention to the product.
Something i call an isolating shot is where you deliberately cut off details to bring a main focus on an object

I would like to add that when shooting with noisy backgrounds it may be best to wear brighter colored clothing to help better contrast the skater, similar to Shane O'Neil Transworld photo you linked to.
